My Story
While growing up in Rhode Island, it was easy to fall in love with the land and seascapes of New England. I feel compelled to capture those moments, to hold them in my memory and also to share my appreciation for nature with others.
Rick was born and raised in Cranston, Rhode Island, spending countless hours exploring the coast from Narrangansett Pier to Newport, and beyond. He grew up surrounded by the artistic influences of his mother, who was an accomplished artist, and his great aunt Esther Goldstein, an award winning sculptor from Utica, NY.
After graduating in 1978 from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications, he began a career in advertising in Boston. He spent the majority of his career in advertising sales and recently retired after 33 years with Boston’s WCVB-TV/Channel 5. During this time, when he had a free moment on weekends or vacations, the paintbox would reappear and the sketchbooks would fill.
In retirement, he spends his days as a full-time oil painter illustrating the beauty of Cape Cod, New England and more. Rick’s paintings reflect his love of the New England coast and deep connection to the natural world. With each brushstroke, he captures the essence of the coastal landscapes he knows and loves, inviting the viewer into a world of beauty and tranquility.
